A day of celebration! On 2nd June it was announced that Thurrock Mind had been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services. This is the highest commendation that our organisation can receive and recognises the dedication of our staff and volunteers.
Yesterday our staff, volunteers, members and partners came together at the Community House in Grays to mark the occasion with a ceremony and lunch. David Noble (Chairman of the Board of Trustees) spoke about Thurrock Mind’s achievements spanning 35 years and highlighted our plans for the future. The formal citation was read by Deputy Lieutenant of Essex, Mr Vincent Thompson. The award was presented by Lord Lieutenant for the County of Essex, Mrs Jennifer Tolhurst and received by Leanne Horwill (Peer Mentor and Volunteer Manager) and volunteers Barry Spooner and Christine King.
