Wellbeing Centre

Wellbeing Centre

Is based at 160 Bridge Road, Grays. We are open 7 days a week between 11am – 4pm, providing a range of groups and other activities that enables and supports clients to gain the confidence to take their place as valued members of the wider community, thus decreasing social isolation and break down stigma.

The Wellbeing Centre supports adults within the Thurrock area who have been diagnosed with mental health difficulties. The service provides a safe and supportive setting where clients are empowered to take responsibility for themselves by working within a recovery focused model.

The Wellbeing Centre also provides the opportunity to develop or rediscover social skills and create new social networks within a safe and empathetic environment. Staff are on hand to support this, but service users also gain by supporting each other and sharing ideas.

Many of the group activities link to the recovery star goals set by service users and their named workers. Examples of some of the groups that are currently running are:

  • Cooking Group
  • Art Group
  • Photography and Walking Group
  • Bird watching
  • Games Console Night
  • Regular Evening Social Events
  • Literacy Group – Based at Grays Adult Education College
  • Themed Peer Support Groups
  • Women’s Group
  • Hearing Voices Group
  • Depression and Anxiety

We also have good connections with other external organisations such as Next Steps and CDAS that spend sometime in the Wellbeing Centre to offer support to our clients.

Community Bridge Building

The Community Bridge Building Service also works within a recovery based model, but is not reliant on a building, or building based activities. The service aims to support and empower people with diagnosed mental health difficulties, through their recovery journey within in the community.

Clients work with a designated named worker on a one-to-one basis, which helps the client develop some goals based around the individual’s strengths and weaknesses. With the emphasis being on re-engaging and re-activating the client enabling them to stay well and take responsibility for their own lives once more.

We can help and provide support within the following recovery star domain areas which are:

  • Managing Mental Health
  • Self-Care
  • Living Skills
  • Social Networks
  • Work
  • Relationships
  • Addictive Behaviour
  • Responsibilities
  • Identity and Self Esteem
  • Trust and Hope
