Thurrock Mind
Welcome to Thurrock Mind
Thurrock Mind is an independent organisation, affiliated to National Mind, and was founded in 1980 by a group of people interested in developing services in the community to support those with mental health problems. Funding was secured which led to the opening in 1983 of Bridge House, a day centre providing support, information, advice and counselling. Since then, the organisation has gone from strength to strength and currently provides a wide range of support services to people experiencing mental health problems. In 2004 Thurrock Mind became a charitable company limited by guarantee.
Thurrock Mind is an affiliated Local Mind Association and strives to deliver services which meet the Quality Management in Mind Standards’.
Thurrock Mind's Vision
"Our vision is of a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all, treating people with experience of mental distress fairly, positively and with respect. The needs and experience of people with mental distress drive our work and we make sure their voice is heard by those who influence change. Our independence gives us the freedom to stand up and speak out on the real issues that affect our daily lives. We provide information, support and services while campaigning to improve policy and attitudes – we do all this to make it possible for people who experience mental distress to live full lives and play their part in society."
